Off-White aims for a triumphant return to Paris Fashion Week next February, and in the prelude to this runway revival, Ib Kamara unveils a pre-fall collection that revisits the essence of the brand. Channeling the spirit of Off-White’s inception in 2012, Kamara focuses on “Youth luxury. Playfulness. Street. Real clothes you want to wear with a lot of desirable details.”
The studio narratives include trenches in technical fabrics with decorative top-stitching, lace-edged leather dresses over jersey, and washed denim featuring the iconic house cross and other Off-White motifs. Evening wear takes on a daring twist with harness lapels. Inspired by a research trip to Japan, the collection embraces kawaii aesthetics, evident in pearl or ruffle-edged workwear, bra-overstitched hoodies, and pearlescent buttoned Maasai check tweeds and tailoring. The cacophony of beading, patches, and floral prints layered over pinstripe contributes to Kamara’s vision of an optimistic and fun Off-White.
The collection extends to core bag and sneaker styles, complemented by instantly recognizable seasonal house “basics.” Kamara, recognizing the industry’s love for minimalism, emphasizes Off-White’s commitment to being vibrant and enjoyable. As the brand curates its founder Virgil Abloh’s influential language and codes, it aspires to become the first heritage fashion brand born in the 21st century, akin to the luxury equivalent of Stussy—a monument to Abloh’s undeniable monumental influence.
